9/28/11 - Bink Designs and High Rev Photo Polaris San Felipe Shakedown

El Cajon, CA

Bink Designs, HighRev Photography, San Felipe Off Road

This is the ultimate test: Desert, sand washes, silt, and whoops at a scorching 115 degrees. It was the San Felipe SCORE Challenge of Champions. Joey, owner of UTVunderground.com was aware of Bink Designs and High Rev Photography’s need to be able to access remote locations through challenging terrain. Joey thought the 6-seat Polaris Ranger would be a good choice to loan them to test over the race weekend.

He was right. During race day, we soon realized the Polaris Ranger is definitely a workhorse machine. The Ranger seats 6 people and with only 3 of us in it we all had plenty of room to breathe. The suspension on the Ranger isn't on the same level as the RZR's so we weren't expecting to be able to blast through the desert in it, but the ride was surprisingly nice over smaller whoops. The extra weight of the Ranger helped keep the UTV low to the ground, which helped reduce any body roll. Navigating through the rough, we found ourselves puckering up a few times due to the longer wheelbase, but overall, it was a smooth ride.

One thing that the Polaris doesn’t lack in is storage. Underneath the front seat, it was able to store all of our camera bags, tools, tow strap, and other items we wanted to keep out of the dust or this compartment can be used as a large cooler. The utility bed had plenty of room for a large cooler and a 5-gallon gas jug, with more room to spare.

The 4x4 was great to have and saved us a few times in soft areas near the course. The option to have it in 4wd, 2wd locked, or 2wd one tire fire was also nice driving around town as it was easier to maneuver on pavement. We were also able to drive up the Sand Dunes in San Felipe with one wheel drive!

“We always have safety in mind and this Polaris Ranger was able to get us through the desert safely. Because of that, we were able to get some spectacular photos over the weekend!” stated Brian Binkert owner of Bink Designs.

If you are looking for a UTV to have fun flying around in the dunes or the desert, the Ranger might not be the choice for you. What this UTV does well is get you, your friends, and a ton of gear from point A to B in a comfortable fashion. It’s perfect for the pits, on the farm, or anywhere you need a reliable workhorse.

“The Polaris Ranger exceeded our expectations and proved to be reliable throughout our trip to Baja.” stated Jason Zindroski owner of High Rev Photography.

Thanks Joey for letting us borrow the beast in San Felipe! Look forward to more adventures soon!

6/20/11 - Bink Designs F150 Graces Dirt Sports Magazine

El Cajon, CA

Bink Designs F150, Dirt Sports F150, Bink Designs Prerunner

From the June, 2011 issue of Dirt Sports Magazine

It happens every time, almost like clockwork. Here’s what occurs in the life of a Dirt Sports project build. It begins like all love affairs – all flowers, hope and promise. Then comes the grind of matching our newfound marriage with the picket fence-like dreams of trying to build the ultimate anything. Toward the end, a million details and countless hours later, you swear it’s time for divorce – you’ll never take on anything like it again. But when that beast is finally complete and fired up, we discover we really don’t want to walk away, but maybe just have a new affair with the next sexy vision that comes along.

So, after five such marriages, our track record resembles that of the late Elizabeth Taylor. The family photo album is filled with images of the past loves; VW Elf, our token red head (the Retro Bronco), our trick Yamaha Rhino, the smoken’ Plug N’ Play Alumi Craft and the over-the-top Kawasaki Teryx TT.

Now it’s time for something new. It’s almost impossible to fathom, but our stable of “wives” has yet to include a truck!

With the conclusion of the Teryx TT build (see final results in next month’s July issue!), our eyes didn’t have to wander far when we looked toward our next conquest. At a recent LOORRS short-course race, we spotted the ultra-clean, ultra-truck Ford F-150 of Dirt Sports contributing photographer Brian Binkert and stopped dead in our tracks. His truck was a mid-2000s F-150, but was modified with ultra slick bodywork by FiberwerX that included a late model front grill and headlights in a front-tilting one-piece front end. The wide-track rear end was equally appealing.

Beauty was more than skin deep, however. Up front Bink’s F-150 was graced with a very trick long-travel suspension created by those forward-thinking guys at Brenthel Industries. Armed with a set of specially valved Fox Shox, there is no doubt the set-up can make prerunning, play or chasing a race more enjoyable.

The good news is that we have a suitable base vehicle to start with. Our company CEO Jim Ryan has a tired 2006 F150 that needs some serious TLC. Over the course of the coming months, we will transform this tired girl with a new FiberwerX Raptor kit (with one piece front end and OEM grill work), a Brenthel long-travel front end and new rear bed-mounted shock assembly and Fox Shox for starters. Then we will add a custom widened rear end by Currie Enterprise, 37-inch General Tire Grabbers and a unique set of Method’s latest wheels. Of course, you can count on a custom blue, orange and silver Dirt Sports paint job. Beyond that…you can bet we will come up with some insane touches.

The DS-150. We will take our tired grandma and convert her into our next big fling. Stay tuned.

06/24/09 - Bink Designs Cover Shot in Dirt Sports Mag

Bink Designs was just recently published on the cover of the June 2009 issue of Dirtsports Magazine. The photo was taken of Bobby Baldwin’s #96 Trophy Truck driven by Jesse Jones stuffing it into the dirt that threw the Trophy Truck into an “endo” on to it’s lid at the Best In The Desert (Parker 425) in Arizona. The crash was spectacular to watch and after about 15 minutes with some handy help from a few spectators the truck was back over on all fours. The driver / co driver checked all fluids, other potential problems and away they went back into the race. TT#96 ended up not finishing the race.

05/10/09 - FiberwerX Open House Huge Success

The entire FiberwerX Crew cannot thank everyone enough for coming out and supporting our event on May 2nd. We all had a great time meeting new people, talking to old friends and sharing our accomplishments with the rest of the community. We estimate about 2,000+ people stopped by throughout the course of the day and are very pleased to call the event a true success.

Without a doubt, most everyone who attended was stoked on the FREE Carne Asada BBQ. Carlos and his crew (from Baja Pits / U.S. Wheels) cooked up 250 pounds of fresh beef. We want to give big thanks for volunteering and taking the initiative. We could not have done it without your help and expertise! Carlos later quoted “This was the biggest off-road event I have been a part of, bigger than any SCORE & CODE drawing party combined. You guys put on a great event!”

San Diego local bands Skip Jack & FM Revolver kept the party flowing all day with great vocals and awesome riffs under the Dirt Alliance tent performing several sets to the large crowd throughout the day! Dirt Alliance was passing out free From The Dirt DVD’s which just won the 2009 Best Off-Road Truck Video Extremy Award. Travis Siflinger was on hand giving away free passes and promoting the upcoming SXS Stadium Series that’s happening this Saturday, May 9th at Perris Automotive Speedway, so don’t miss out! RDC donated some of the DP Series DVD’s to FiberwerX to play on our big 60” Plasma for people to watch, relax & eat tacos inside our shop.

Local friends SDORC (San Diego Off-Road Coalition) stepped up and played a big part to help our raffle go down. The night before our event Meg from ORBA got in a horrible accident on the 78 and her truck was totaled (she is fine by the way) so we are very happy that SDORC was able to show up and make it happen! We accumulated $12K of contributions from FiberwerX, Drive Racing Series, Tubeworks, Bully Dog, Light Force, Fox Racing Shocks, RacerX, Powder1, Mastercraft, L&M Tires/Toyo Tires, Race-Dezert, Dezert Nation, FX Fabrication, Richer Racing, Threat Motorsports, California Metal, JuanCO Performance, Bink Designs, Kleanwerx, National Spring, Shock Pros, Bee Hive Sports Bar, TrueLine, Havoc Motorsports, Sand Hustler Clothing,1450.org and late additions from 4130 Clothing, Paul at Racer Services, and Baja Mike at Kartek. We successfully raised $5,600 from raffle ticket sales to donate to ORBA / SDORC to help keep our deserts OPEN! The FiberwerX Crew is very grateful to all our vendors that contributed to the raffle and the offroad community working together to achieve our objectives while having a lot of fun doing it!

The Drive Racing Organization received numerous responses and attracted many new entries with their big pay outs, cash bonuses, and unique opportunities for racing in the Imperial Valley. The next event is the FiberwerX 200 Night Race, which will take place on Saturday, May 16th. The drawing was held at 3PM in the Dirt Alliance booth and there are currently 39 entries for The FiberwerX 200. If you’re a 1450 racer you need to come race this race! There are nineteen 1450’s entered and growing. If you are a ½ 1600 Racer, you have to get in on the Hare & Hound Bonus Program. There is a chance to win $4,000 or more with just 10 entries. 04/02/09 - FiberwerX OPEN HOUSE (Sat. May 2nd)

FiberwerX is ankle deep into 2009 and we are experiencing a good influx of positive growth. We want to share our success and celebrate by inviting the offroad community to an Open House Party taking place on May 2nd at our new location on 8400 N. Magnolia Ave. Suite H. - Santee, CA 92071 At the same time FiberwerX wants to do our part to stimulate good business throughout the offroad industry. Coordinating with many brands & companies, the FiberwerX Open House has quickly evolved into a small expo. A number of vendors will be on hand to participate and kick down sales & discounts on all sorts of merchandise & products. We have received a tremendous amount of feedback and response, and more companies are signing up daily.

FiberwerX has reached out to ORBA and we have organized a raffle to benefit this local organization that has done so much for the Offroad Industry over the years. The reaction and participation from industry companies across the board has been completely unbelievable, and we are expecting more prizes to be added to the ORBA Benefit Raffle as more companies become aware. So far we have allocated over $6000 in goods and accessories.

In addition for the Open House, the FiberwerX Staff has arranged for a number of features and attractions that will keep the whole family and their friends entertained for hours. Live music including several popular headlining band will keep the atmosphere up beat throughout the day. Free Street Tacos and other food vendors will be on hand. A fun jump will be setup to keep the little ones entertained. An offroad vehicle show featuring avariety of race cars, trucks, prerunners and rhinos will be on display. And as always our favorite FiberwerX Girls will be doing their thing. The Dirt Alliance will be setting up a mini Dirt Tour that will give a good preview on how their events go down. Essentially, plenty of action and attractions for all is what we have scheduled.

We recently corresponded with DRIVE Racing to host a live drawing party for the upcoming May 16th Night Race taking place out in Plaster City. Doug Wasser, DRIVE’s President was elated to get involved. We all believe the open house event will help promote the new series and is just what is needed to get the racers aware of the program. 1450 ORG is already well aware of the DRIVE Series and has the Night Race scheduled for Round 3 of the 1450 ORG Series. We expect nearly 20 entries in the 1450 class alone. If you want to participate in any class in the DRIVE series which is well organized and has no bad habits, than make sure to get your entry form in to get your name in the Live Drawing taking place during the Open House.

If you think you might want to get involved, please let us know right away so that we can add you into the plan and schedule before all the spaces are reserved. Available opportunities are filling up fast, so act now.

Our main focus was to eliminate unnecessary clutter to give the user pain free navigation. We spent time on implementing a photo cart system to optimize all images for quick viewing / shopping.

A state of the art photo lab processes all prints and posters purchased. Photo prints are developed on Kodak’s Professional Endura paper high-end photo laser printers.

New photos are going to be added daily from the most recent to the oldest until complete. So keep checking back..

Take a look and let us know what you think!

11/25/08 - Back from the Baja 1000

We headed down to Ensenada, Mexico for this years Baja 1000 with Team FiberwerX to capture all the moments of this years race as well as hand out stickers and posters to all the local race fans at contingency. With all the talk on all the bad news in mexico we had no problems of any kind going down to Baja/during the race/returning which is a relief to see. I pitted with Team FiberwerX Trophy Truck #50 so was only able to get shots of the TT's mainly. I would of loved to see the other classes but was not around long enough to see them. It was a grueling race with many ups and downs for our team and we were ecstatic to finsih 11th in class and 18th overall of 371 starters. We want to give a big congratulations to Heidi Steele for winning the championship and Marc Burnett for winning Class 6 IRON MAN style. Here are a few photos!

10/25/08 - Bink Designs Prerunner Testing

The time has finally come to go out and test the Bink Designs Prerunner Ranger. It has been a few long years in the process to finish this build. With the help of FiberwerX / FX-Fabrication and many other sponsors involved I was able to finish up my dream prerunner.

Bink Designs and the FiberwerX crew headed out Saturday morning to Plaster City to test the Bink Designs Prerunner & the newly built Ford F-150 Class 8 of San Vicente Racing. It was a beautiful morning and the temperature was a pleasant 90 degrees. We started out with getting some profile shots of San Vicente Race Team and the bd prerunner while the trucks were still clean. We proceeded to start on Evan Hughes Rd around the Plaster City West race course to see how the truck would handle at speed.

Everything seemed to be working flawless right out of the box then boom the truck completely looses power! We took the hood off to see what the problem was and we found that we lost the hose and breather filter as well as the radiator over flowing severely. We got a tow back to camp by San Vicente’s F150 Super Crew Prerunner to further investigate the problem. We find that there’s a loose relay in the fuse box. Problem fixed! With that being said we loaded up the prerunner and headed off to the Imperial Sand Dunes to meet up with some family friends to give some rides out!

Overall we are extremely pleased with how the weekend went. We were able to indentify several problematic issues that could be a problem and have determined the best course of action to create a dependable vehicle. The Ranger Prerunner platform crafted by FX-Fabrication is perfect for the bd objectives to scout out likely photo opportunities and transportation to remote trackside locations. I feel like my new Prerunner is a safe reliable truck that is capable of running a good amount of hard offroad miles. Bink Designs is anticipating many future trips full of great times and good people.

10/13/08 - bd Prerunner @ Off-Road Expo

Last weekend Bink Designs took a drive up to Pomona Fairplex, CA for the Off-Road Expo. This is the largest Off-Road show of its kind and attracts a large number of vendors and visitors each year. Bink Designs & FiberwerX teamed up to have a huge booth outside which consisted of Bink Designs Prerunner, FiberwerX TT#50, FiberwerX Trophy Kart, San Vicente’s Class 8, BullyDog 2004 F150 and FiberwerX’s previous championship winning Class 7. The booth was jammed packed with people all day checking out the ever so hot FiberwerX Girls that were throwing out posters, stickers, FiberwerX/Bink Designs Brochures and having people fill out free raffle tickets to win a ride in the TT#50 or win a pair of fiberglass bedsides & fiberglass fenders.

Bink Designs hooked up with the editors of Off-Road Magazine to find out they wanted to do a feature of the new prerunner in an upcoming issue of their magazine. Which will be out sometime in March/April of 2009. So look forward to grabbing one off the mag stands when released.

Thanks to Toyo Tires, Fox Shox, Light Force, FiberwerX, FX-Fabrication, JBA Headers, DJ Safety AEM, SPY Optics, JuanCO Performance, Rockstar Energy Drinks. I could not have done it without your help! Okay I could have but it would have taken me a year or two more :)

09/21/08 - What has bd been up to?

Bink Designs is not MIA by any means.. We have been working on long-term projects for GHA Racing & FiberwerX Racing campaigning for the 2009 off-road season. Bink Designs has been assigned to create Sponsorship Proposal Packages, Website Development, Vehicle Layouts, Expo Displays, Race Attire, Collateral, Promo, and Vinyl Graphics with the use of stunning graphics and images to create unity within the race program.

As of last week we acquired a new client Propellers of San Diego. Our objective is to redesign their current website with a fresh new look that is functional and will grab the customers attention. There will be a shopping cart system put in place to easily attract new & existing customers to purchase online with ease.

Our next event we will be shooting trackside at is the SCORE Primm 300 race in Primm Valley, NV (Stateline) As of our current date there are 113 trucks & cars entered and growing. We will be in for some exciting action with our friend Jason McNeil, driver of the FiberwerX #50 Trophy Truck. This will be Jason’s first start in his new Trophy Truck in the SCORE series. Jason will be starting 4th off the line with Mark Post (2008 SCORE Champion) right on his tail. Look for Bink Designs to post pictures from this event on Race-Dezert.com a few days after the race.

06/23/08 - FreestyleMX.com 7275 Photo Shoot

Bink Designs was called up by FreestyleMX.com’s Marc Burnett operator of the world's largest motocross website and new owner of Camburg’s BITD 7200 Truck to obtain hi-end shots of the new beast. Recently the truck has gone through a serious overhaul with the addition of a new FiberwerX Ranger TT Body, OEM Carbon Fiber Dash, Dirt-Tech Rear-End Housing & Trail Ready Wheels wrapped with the new aggressive “Grabber” General Tire.

A new vehicle wrap on the race truck sported FreestyleMX.com / Boost Mobile / Monster Energy Drinks colors, logos and graphics. Burnett’s new team and the fleet of support vehicles were all decked out in complementing graphics and themed vehicle wraps creating a seamless team identity.

Marc and the convoy of team vehicles arrived late Thursday night to Plaster City West. The area provides a variety of dessert terrain and is highly popular with many race teams that use Plaster City to test and fine-tune their racecars for any upcoming races. By 12:30 a.m. Friday morning it was already 100 degrees out! I knew we had a long day of shooting ahead of us. There was a full moon out so the team setup up quickly to hammer out some night shots of the car, before getting to bed at 3AM.

We awoke at sunrise to re-arrange the race truck, chase vehicles, and trailers to achieve the necessary shots for the team and sponsors. We shot most of the day with the heat scorching around 118+ degrees going through at least 10 cases of water between all of us! The day ended with us getting some action shots of the car and some ride time in before we started having a vapor lock issue that pretty much ended the day.

All and all it was a successful test session and photo shoot. We captured a ton of great shots that will be used in upcoming PR/Marketing materials for many of FreestyleMX.com partners.

05/20/08 - FiberwerX.com Makeover

As the new in-house technology officer for the FiberwerX Organization, Bink Designs has been tasked with several high priority assignments. The most imperative being a complete restructuring of FiberwerX.com. Instead of modifying the existing website, Bink Designs created the new website from the ground up.

The new site systematically displays a product list organized by make, model, and type of product. A Bink Designs custom Product ID Numbering system, and specified information will assist in helping the user make their selection process as easy as possible. A state of the art Image gallery seamlessly lets the customer navigate from product to product without getting lost in the site.

A distribution page features a list of the company’s retailers as well as their contact info and location. The Customer Showcase presents several high profile vehicles & unique products. FiberwerX News archives any articles, headlines, press releases, and race reports that will keep their users updated on what the organization is up to.

This Website Project will surely keep FiberwerX on the forefront and leading the offroad industry for years to come.
